On March 27, 1912, the gift of Japanese cherry trees from Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo City to the city of Washington, D.C. Mayor Ozaki donated the trees to enhance the growing friendship between the United States and Japan and also celebrate the continued close relationship between the two nations

Christmas on King Street
Oprah Magazine once named Old Town Alexandria one of the best Christmas Villages in the World. This should come as no surprise to anyone who has shopped on King Street during the holiday season with holiday cheer, sounds, and scents coming from every shop along the quaint brick lined street. Even more feels of the holidays can be seen just off King Street with many 18th century row homes adorned with wreaths, garland, fruits with clove that pair so well with gas lanterns and fireplace aromas.
